Garretson Man Faces 15 Charges After High Speed Vehicle Pursuit in Day County

A Garretson man is being held in the Day County Jail after leading law enforcement authorities on a high speed vehicle pursuit through Webster and parts of Day County on Wednesday.

Aaron Myre, 27, faces 15 charges, including felony possession of methamphetamine and aggravated eluding of law enforcement, according to documents filed with the Day County Clerk of Courts Office.

The pursuit began shortly after 8 a.m. when two South Dakota State Troopers attempted to check on Myre who appeared to be either asleep or passed out inside a vehicle parked outside a local convenience store.

When the troopers approached Myre’s vehicle, he sped away traveling east out of town before heading back into town where Day County Sheriff’s deputies and Webster police joined the pursuit.

The Webster school was also locked down for a brief period of time as a precautionary measure while the pursuit was in progress.

The pursuit came to an end on state Highway 25 south of town where Myre was arrested.

Myre was booked into the Day County Jail where he’s being held on $100,000 cash bond. He’s set to appear in court on September 7th.
