The Milbank Area Valley Hospice organization has kicked off its annual “Tree of Lights” fundraising campaign in an effort to improve the overall quality of life for those who are in need of hospice care.

The campaign is designed to benefit not only hospice patients, but family members, as well.

Milbank Area Valley Hospice provides care to families within a 35 miles radius of Milbank community. Although hospice care services are administered primarily within the home, they can also be provided in a nursing home or hospital if the patient requires medical treatment that can’t be provided in the home.

A porcelain wreath tree ornament will be provided to donors contributing to this year’s “Tree of Lights” campaign. An ornament can be personalized if given in memory or in honor of a certain individual.

A “Tree of Lights” ceremony will be held on Sunday, January 7th at 2 p.m. at the Milbank Area Hospital Avera chapel. Area residents are invited to attend. Ornaments will be mailed or delivered to donors after the ceremony.

Donation forms for the current “Tree of Lights” campaign are available in local newspapers, as well as Milbank Area Hospital Avera on Flynn Drive in Milbank.
