A Waubay woman has been sentenced in Grant County Circuit Court for her involvement in a local drug case this past spring.

Twenty-six-year-old Jordin Gill was sentenced this week to three years in the South Dakota State Penitentiary with the term being suspended under the discretion of presiding Judge Robert Spears.

Gill was one of three people arrested in the case. She was initially charged with having possession of one pound or more of marijuana with intent to deliver.

The case stems from a traffic stop initiated by Grant County Sheriff’s Deputies back on May 13th near Big Stone City, at which time approximately four pounds of high grade marijuana was seized.

It was further ordered that Gill, who is currently pregnant and is expected to give birth in December, be confined to her home for a period of 30 days with credit being given for time previously served following her arrest in May.

Gill was also placed on probation for a period of three years and she was also ordered to pay a fine, along with court costs and restitution.
