Winter Weather Returning to South Dakota

After experiencing above normal temperatures throughout much of November, it appears that winter will finally be arriving for most areas of South Dakota beginning today (Monday) with colder temperatures expected throughout the remainder of this week. A Blizzard warning has been issued for the entire KMSD listening area, which will remain in effect through midnight. Dan Moore, a weather forecaster for the national weather service office in Aberdeen explains how the approaching weather system is expected to impact our immediate area…

Again, a blizzard warning is in effect for the entire KMSD listening area until Midnight tonight (Monday). Right now, total snowfall accumulations of 2 to 4 inches are expected across the regional area. The national weather service further emphasizes that white out conditions are expected today (Monday) as the storm system continues to develop. As a result, outdoor conditions will be extremely dangerous and therefore, travel is not recommended. If you must travel, you’re advised to have a winter survival kit with you.
