Public Hearing Held in Milbank for Crowned Ridge Wind Project

A large influx of people turned out at the Milbank High School cafeteria last (Monday) evening to learn about future plans for a major transmission line project that is being proposed in Codington and Grant Counties. The meeting was conducted by the South Dakota Public Utilities Commission in an attempt to gather public input regarding an application that was submitted to the commission on behalf of Crowned Ridge Wind LLC for the development of a 34-mile 230-kilovolt transmission line and a reactive compensation substation within the targeted project area. Chris goes on to further explain where the two major electrical projects would be built providing each is granted formal approval by the state utilities commission…

Chris further adds that Crowned Ridge Wind LLC is required to provide sufficient proof that it’s proposed wind energy project is capable of being fully compliant in all areas of basic operation at all times…

As additional wind energy projects begin to take shape across the regional area, the South Dakota Public Utilities Commission looks forward to making additional visits to the Milbank area to obtain public input on such matters as things develop.
