Sisseton the Safest City in South Dakota

“Safe Home” corporation recently conducted a study to determine which cities in the state of South Dakota are considered to be the best places to live or visit from an overall safety perspective.

Cities which made the list had a total population of at least 2000. Of the 25 scored cities in South Dakota, 19 of them have a Safety Score of at least 80.

According to the company’s list, Sisseton was ranked as being the state’s safest city, with a score of 98.74. As of 2014, the community’s population was listed at 2,473. The study revealed that the majority of people living within the community were racially classified as being caucasian or white. It also showed that the majority of residents in the community were either families raising children or married couples living together.

Other cities which ranked in the top five in order include Winner, Lead, Madison and Brandon, whose safety scores were all above 90.

Other cities of note which made the list include Brookings, the home of South Dakota State University, which ranked 11th; Aberdeen, which was ranked 12th; Watertown, which was listed as the 18th safest city in the state; Vermillion, the home of the University of South Dakota, which came in at number 19; Pierre, the state capitol, which ranked 22nd; Sioux Falls, the state’s largest city, which came in at number 24; and finally, Rapid City, which was ranked as being the 25th safest city in the state.
