Susan Wismer of Britton, a Democrat who currently serves in the South Dakota House of Representatives for District 1 has announced that she will be running for the State District 1 Senate seat currently occupied by Jason Frerichs of Wilmot, who will not be seeking re-election.
Frerichs, also a Democrat, has served the four terms that are allowed in one house under state law, and therefore, will not be seeking re-election.
Wismer’s top priorities in overseeing the position include education, agriculture, Native American issues and representation and economic development.
