Andover Fire Victim Identified-Aberdeen Man Arrested in Connection with the Investigation

Authorities in Day County have identified the victim of a recent apartment fire in Andover while another person has been arrested in connection with the investigation.

According to the South Dakota Attorney General’s Office, the victim was identified as 25-year-old Tawny Rockwood of Andover. Rockwood’s body was found in the rubble of an apartment fire which occurred early Friday morning.

Authorities have arrested 36-year-old Jose Quinones-Rodriguez of Aberdeen for domestic aggravated assault in connection with the investigation for behavior that occurred prior to the fire.

Quinones-Rodriguez is currently being held on $50,000 cash bond. He potentially faces up to 15 years in the state penitentiary and/or a $30,000 fine.

The case is being investigated by the Day County Sheriff’s Office, Aberdeen Police Department, South Dakota Highway Patrol, State Fire Marshal’s Office, ATF and the Division of Criminal Investigation.
