A Watertown restaurant was evacuated for about 40 minutes last (Sunday) night after some employees discovered smoke and an electrical smell coming from inside the building.

Local fire crews were summoned to Minerva’s Restaurant and Bar located on 9th Avenue Southwest shortly before 7:30 p.m. after smoke and a strong electrical smell were detected coming from the Kampeska Ball Room.

An investigation revealed the problem was caused when an air handling system on the roof of the building malfunctioned and overheated.

The unit was shut down and the business was allowed to re-open a short time later.
