Autopsy Shows Andover Woman Shot Twice in the Head

An autopsy has revealed that a Day County woman who was found dead inside an Andover apartment building a month ago after a fire was killed when she was shot twice in the back of the head.

Thirty-six-year-old Jose Rodriguez of Aberdeen is charged with first-degree murder, arson and burglary, among other charges.

Rodriguez made an initial appearance in Day County Court on the felony charges yesterday (Wednesday).

Court documents indicate Rodriguez killed 25-year-old Tawny Rockwood between February 8th and 9th and then set her apartment on fire.

An autopsy revealed two shell casings were found near Rockwood’s body and no firearm was found, which led authorities to rule out suicide as a likely cause of death.

Rodriguez is currently being held on $1 million cash bond.
