The Special Olympics visited Milbank today (Tuesday) with a “Torch Run” ceremony being held to honor the athletes whose dream is to participate in Special Olympics on a state and global- wide scale.

The “Torch Run” is a four day event sponsored by law enforcement agencies from throughout South Dakota in an effort to increase awareness about Special Olympics.

The Special Olympics “Torch Run” kicked off this (Tuesday) morning at 8:15 at Milbank High School with the event eventually ending at Koch Elementary School.

Area residents came out and lined the streets along the way in support of local athletes participating in this year’s “Torch Run” event.
