Area Memorial Day Services Planned for Monday, May 28th

Several area communities will be conducting Memorial Day services on Monday, May 28th in honor of fallen veterans who have sacrificed their lives for our country.

In Milbank, an 8 a.m. mass is planned at St. Lawrence Catholic Cemetery with a posting of memorial wreaths and a salute to the dead to follow.

A Memorial Day program will be conducted at the Milbank City Cemetery at 10 a.m. with the colors to be presented by Grant County VFW Post #3486 and Auxiliary, Birch-Miller Post No. 9 American Legion and Auxiliary, 740th Transportation Company, Disabled American Veterans Chapter 19, Vietnam Veterans Chapter 1054 and the Knights of Columbus. Commander Preston Fischer will conduct the pledge of allegiance with John Wiik to serve as the keynote speaker for the program. Taps and a salute to the dead will proceed the retiring of the colors. Special music will be provided by the Milbank High School band under the direction of Susan Karels. In case of inclement weather, the ceremony will be held inside the Milbank High School gymnasium.

In Revillo, Memorial Day services will be held at the Revillo City Cemetery beginning at 9 a.m.
Lunch will be served at the community center immediately following the service. In case of inclement weather, the ceremony will be held in the community center.

In LaBolt, members of the Stockholm-Strandburg American Legion Post will conduct a Memorial Day Service at 9:30 a.m. at the LaBolt cemetery.

In Strandburg, local services will be performed by the Stockholm-Strandburg American Legion Post at Tabor Lutheran Church in Strandburg starting at 10:30 a.m.
