The South Dakota Department of Public Safety has released the names of the individuals who were involved in a two vehicle accident late Sunday afternoon on Interstate 29 near Summit, which left two people with life threatening injuries.

The state patrol says 54-year-old Maei Templin of Fergus Falls, Minnesota was traveling south in the left-hand lane of Interstate 29 when she slowed to enter an interstate crossover area to turn around to head north.

At that time, the Templin vehicle was struck from behind by a vehicle operated by 29-year-old
Zachary Deutsch of Sioux Falls.

The impact caused the Templin vehicle to overturn with both vehicles eventually coming to rest within the median.

Templin was first taken to Priairie Lakes Hospital in Watertown and was later airlifted to a hospital in Fargo, North Dakota with life-threatening injuries. A passenger, Juan Li (Lee) of Kensington, Minnesota also sustained life-threatening injures.

Deutsch, the driver of the other vehicle, sustained minor injuries in the crash.

Authorities say charges against Templin are pending.
