2018 Primary-City Council Elections Being Held Today

Today (Tuesday) is Primary Election Day, a day in which registered voters across South Dakota will be going to the polls to choose candidates to fill state and local governing positions.

On the non-political ballot, registered voters will be voting on constitutional amendment Y, which would allow for certain changes to be made to Marsy’s Law, which was approved by voters in 2016.

Also on the non-political ballot, residents in Milbank’s Third Ward will decide the outcome of a contested city council race between Incumbent Lane Lindquist and challenger Evan Grong.

Registered Republican Party voters across the state will also have the opportunity to decide which candidates from their party will advance to the general election in November for the United States Representative and Governor races.

Republican Party candidates for the United States House of Representatives include Dusty Johnson, Shantel Krebs and Neal Tapio while Marty Jackley and Kristi Noem will be seeking the Republican Party nomination for the office of Governor.

In Grant County, registered Republicans in the towns of Revillo and Albee or the townships of Adams and Vernon will be voting for either Vincent Meyer or Dave Schultz to serve as a precinct committeeman.

The polls will be open today (Tuesday) from 7 a.m. – 7 p.m.

Residents of Milbank will vote at the community room in the Milbank Visitor Center.

Citizens residing in Melrose Township are reminded that their voting location has been changed to the Grant County Public Library located at 207 East Park Avenue.
