Although things started out slowly, Candace says she remained positive that her lifetime dream would eventually come true…

When Candace found out she would soon be heading to the nation’s capitol, she contacted some of her closest family members and before you know it, everyone was headed to Washington…

When Candace arrived in Washington, she says she was promptly informed about her temporary living arrangements, as well as her upcoming schedule of events…

A couple of days later, Candace was given the opportunity to tour some of the city’s and the nation’s most prominent historical landmarks, a moment she says she will treasure proudly for the rest of her life…

According to Candace, the White House decorating project is carried out based on a special theme which is chosen for each Christmas season…

This is Candace’s first-ever trip to Washington D.C. She is among a group of nearly 75 volunteers representing 20 different states taking part in the annual decorating tradition. After the annual decorating process is completed Candace will be making the trip back home to South Dakota the weekend of December 1st.
