People from Milbank and other nearby communities turned out at the Seehafer Building in downtown Milbank on Wednesday to learn the results of a survey which has been circulating online and throughout the community over the past several weeks about ways of improving the Milbank community for the future. The Milbank “What Matters Most” survey was part of a joint effort being conducted by Grant County Development Corporation in cooperation with the Institute of Possibility,
based out of Sioux Falls. Hugh Weber, a Milbank native and founder of the Institute of Possibility explains what the results of the survey have revealed about the Milbank community…

Although the results of the survey did reveal both positive and negative things about the community,
Hugh says everyone who took the time to complete the survey appears to be content with the overall findings and is ready to move forward with what needs to be done to improve things for the future…

Although the results of the survey would seem to indicate certain changes need to be made to improve the community’s overall perception, Hugh says the entire process will take some time to complete…

From a local business perspective, Hugh says the community of Milbank can probably be a little more entrepreneurial from that point-of-view, as well…

There were 758 people who responded to the Milbank “What Matters Most” survey. Of that total,
54 percent were Milbank residents, 32 percent were non-residents, 13 percent were visitors to the community, with less than one percent being classified as other respondents. Again, the survey was conducted with the hope of better learning what steps should taken to better improve or grow the Milbank community for the future.
