Tapio to Formally Announce Candidacy for South Dakota’s Lone U.S. House Seat

State Senator Neal Tapio of Watertown today (Tuesday) will formally announce his candidacy for South Dakota’s lone U.S. House of Representatives seat currently occupied by Kristi Noem.

Tapio is currently serving his first term as a state legislator for South Dakota. He previously served as state director for the Donald Trump for President campaign in South Dakota in 2016.

Tapio will make his announcement official during news conferences in Watertown, Sioux Falls,
Rapid City and Aberdeen.

Other Republicans running for the U.S. House seat include former South Dakota Public Service Commissioner Dusty Johnson and South Dakota Secretary of State Shantel Krebs.

On the Democratic side, Tim Bjorkman, a former circuit court judge from Canistota is also seeking the same position.

Noem is vacating her current position as U.S. House Representative to run for the office of Governor of South Dakota.
