A Watertown man charged with shooting and killing a Watertown teenager in a dispute over loud noise last summer has reached a plea deal with prosecutors.

Thirty-one-year-old Alexis Javier Velazquez-Sanchez pleaded guilty, but mentally ill today (Wednesday) to one count of First Degree Manslaughter.

Velazquez-Sanchez is charged with shooting and killing 17-year-old Jayden Harley in a residential neighborhood in Watertown in June of 2017.

Velazquez-Sanchez previously served in the U.S. Army and, in 2013, was diagnosed by a licensed psychologist as having Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder of a chronic and severe nature.

Sentencing for Velazquez-Sanchez has been set for March 21st.

Under terms of the plea deal, Velazquez-Sanchez may be sentenced to no more than 50 years in the State Penitentiary, with the additional counts of Second Degree Murder and Second Degree Manslaughter previously filed against him to be dismissed.
