Authorities in Day County say a body has been recovered from the rubble of an apartment fire that occurred in Andover early Friday morning.
On Saturday, the South Dakota attorney general’s office issued a news release indicating that local police had found a body inside an apartment located in the 100 block of East 2nd Avenue.
The fire was discovered around 1:30 Friday morning by a passerby who was delivering newspapers in the area. The apartment where the fire occurred was described as a total loss.
Authorities say the apartment was occupied by a woman who went missing after the fire broke out.
The attorney general’s office says an active investigation is underway and more details will be released once the body is identified.
