An Aberdeen man is charged with murder, several weeks after a woman’s body was found inside a Day County apartment which was consumed by a fire.

Thirty-six-year-old Jose Rodriguez was indicted Thursday on several changes including first and second degree murder, arson, burglary, aggravated assault domestic and commission of a felony with a firearm.

Authorities say the charges stem from a series of events that occurred on February 8th and 9th at an apartment occupied by 25-year-old Tawny Rockwood in Andover. Investigators believe Rodriguez fatally shot Rockwood during an altercation inside the apartment and then set the building on fire.

Rodriguez is currently being held on $1 million cash bond. If convicted he could face life in prison or the death penalty.
