City officials in Webster estimate about 500,000 gallons of water leaked out of the town’s water system after a water main break earlier this week.

Local officials had a great deal of difficulty pinpointing the exact source of the leak at first because water from the leak never actually surfaced, but instead flowed from the storm sewer line directly into the storm drain.

Webster residents were asked to restrict water usage for a time after the leak was discovered. A boil
water order was issued after the city’s water system was brought back online Thursday, but the order was lifted early this (Friday) afternoon after ongoing water test samples revealed that the town’s water supply was again safe for human consumption.

The Webster School District dismissed classes early on Monday after the leak was discovered with the entire school district being shut down both Tuesday and Wednesday before classes were allowed to resume again on Thursday.

Once again, the boil order that was in effect for the city of Webster has now been lifted and the town’s water supply is again safe for human consumption.
