In wintry weather climates, those who are involved with carrying out snow removal operations to keep area streets and roadways safe and usable for travel are often challenged because every winter weather event is unique in its own way. At this week’s Milbank City Council meeting, some local residents inquired about the city’s current snow removal procedures, due in part to the recent snow storm which made getting around on city streets a difficult task for nearly a full week after the storm hit. City Administrator Jason Kettwig says the storm, in retrospect, did present many unique challenges for local snow removal crews who had to deal with what turned out to be one of the more significant snow events in recent history…

Jason says every winter weather event is a learning experience, per se, and adds the city is always looking at ways of improving its general snow removal operations based on past experience…

Although every winter storm presents its own unique challenges, Jason says the city of Milbank is always looking to find new and better ways of maintaining the city’s streets to accommodate motorists at all times…

At this week’s Milbank City Council meeting, Mayor Pat Raffety noted that the city would try to take a more proactive approach when dealing with future snow events.
