The Watertown Fire Rescue Department was called to a report of a blaze at Terex-FGI Manufacturing near the northeast edge of Lake Kampeska just before 5 o’clock this (Tuesday) morning.

When fire crews arrived on the scene, they found heavy smoke coming from the building.

All employees were safely evacuated from the building, at which time fire crews extinguished a fire which was burning inside an inner wall and above the ceiling.

A building sprinkler system had activated a short time earlier, which helped prevent the fire from spreading to other areas of the plant.

Extensive smoke and water damage was reported throughout the building.

Fire crews remained on the scene for about two hours.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
