House Fire Reported Near Watertown

Watertown Fire Rescue crews were called to an early morning house fire today (Tuesday) at a residence located on U.S. Highway 212 west of Watertown.

At 2:40 a.m., fire crews were summoned to a residence located at 44435 U.S. Highway 212 after the occupants of the home were awakened by smoke in the bedroom and fire in the hallway of the house.

Both occupants escaped unharmed through a bedroom window and then flagged down a passing vehicle. The driver of the vehicle then called 9-1-1.

When local fire crews arrived, they found smoke coming from the eves of the house and black stained windows in part of the house. Upon gaining entry, they discovered fire on the first level of the home. The fire was contained to one room with the entire home sustaining heat and smoke damage.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.

Local fire crews remained on the scene for about three hours.
