Rapid Snow Melt Causes Flooding in Areas of Eastern South Dakota

Rapid snow melt over the past few days has caused flooding across parts of eastern South Dakota, including portions of Codington and Grant counties where flood warnings are currently in effect at this time. The National Weather Service says flooding is expected to occur mainly in rural areas of northwestern Grant and north central Codington Counties where a flood warning remains in effect until 11 p.m. this (Friday) evening. The extended weather outlook shows minimal chances for precipitation during the coming week, along with warmer temperatures which should help bring local rivers and streams back to normal water levels.
