A Watertown senior living facility was evacuated Saturday morning after a fire broke out in an elevated ceiling light fixture.

Watertown Fire Rescue crews were called to the Edgewood Senior Living Center on 14th Avenue Northeast a short time after the fire was discovered.

Eighty-five residents were being housed at the facility at the time with everyone being evacuated safely.

When firefighters arrived, they shut off the electricity and then removed the light fixture. Fire damage was confined primarily to the light fixture and an area of sheet rock surrounding the fixture.

Firefighters removed some smoke from the hallways of the building with residents being allowed to return a short time later.

Local officials say one person was treated at the scene for minor smoke inhalation, but was not transported to the hospital.

Fire crews remained on the scene for a little more than an hour.
