A woman had to be rescued from the Big Sioux River in Watertown last (Sunday) night after the Kayak she was navigating overturned, causing her to be thrown into the swift flowing water.

According to police reports, the woman was kayaking along the Big Sioux between Third Avenue and 10th Avenue Northwest when the incident occurred.

It turns out, the woman had actually posted a message on facebook about the ordeal, which helped lead search and rescue crews to the area.

An investigation revealed the woman apparently became caught in the current, at which time the kayak overturned, causing her to be thrown into the river.

Fortunately, the woman was able to eventually make it to shore on her own.

The woman, whose name wasn’t released, escaped without injury and later went home.
