L-A-T-I Student Charged in Terrorist Threat Incident is Free on Bond

A Lake Area Technical Institute Student charged with making terroristic threats via social media has been released from custody after posting bond.

Twenty-year-old Cory Walter was being held in the Codington County Detention Center following his arrest on Friday, but has since been released on a $2,000 cash surety bond.

Walter was arrested by Codington County sheriff’s deputies at his residence after it was learned that he had alledgedly threatened to carry out a school shooting with photos of ammunition being included with his social media post.

A search of Walter’s residence led to the discovery of a rifle, along with multiple rounds of ammunition.
