Man Arrested After Three-Year-Old Boy is Found Wandering Through a Residential Neighborhood in Watertown Earlier This Week

A man has been arrested and a three-year-old boy has been placed in protective custody after law enforcement authorities in Watertown responded to a report of an unattended child wandering through a local neighborhood earlier this week.

On Monday afternoon, Watertown police were called to a residential neighborhood on the city’s northwest side after a concerned citizen discovered a young boy who appeared to wandering around outdoors without any adult supervision.

Responding officers later followed up on a tip received from some area residents who thought they knew where the boy lived.

Police later arrested 62-year-old David Martin of Watertown, who was reported to be the boy’s grandfather and legal custodian.

Martin was charged with Abuse or Neglect of a Minor Under the Age of Seven and Obstructing a Law Enforcement Officer.

He was initially being held on $2,500 bond.

The boy and another child who were living at Martin’s home were taken into temporary custody by
Child Protection Services authorities.
