A “Welcome Home” ceremony is being planned today (Wednesday) for a young girl from the Big Stone County area who has overcome a major battle with cancer and now has much to look forward to.

Bella Radermacher, age 5, was diagnosed with stage 4 liver cancer in April of 2017. Her parents, Travis and Tabitha Radermacher initially discovered a bump on Bella’s stomach, which prompted them to see a doctor, which in turn led to the discovery of the cancer inside her body. Since that time, Bella has undergone several chemotherapy treatments and a liver transplant. She has been undergoing medical treatment at “The Castle” Children’s Hospital in Sioux Falls over the past several months.

However, medical experts recently determined that Bella’s cancer treatments have been successful and she is now found to be totally cancer free.

Today (Wednesday), Bella is expected to be released from the hospital.

A motorcycle organization known as the American Bikers for Awareness, Training and Education of Minnesota is planning a formal escort for Bella later today (Wednesday) in celebration of her miraculous recovery. A motorcade event is tentatively being organized at the Cenex station in Clear Lake where Bella and her family are expected to convene at around 3 p.m. Vehicles of all types are encouraged to join in the motorcade, which will be led through town by local law enforcement and the Clear Lake fire department.

The motorcade will then travel north on Highway 15 to Milbank before turning east on Highway 12 as it makes its way toward Big Stone City and Ortonville. Law enforcement personnel and fire departments from all three communities will lead the escort through each individual town along the way.

The Odessa Fire Department will then meet up with the motorcade outside of Ortonville to escort Bella and her family home.

Citizens along the route who are not directly involved with the motorcade are welcome and encouraged to line the streets in their respective communities to show their support for Bella and her immediate family during what promises to be a very special day.
